I. הֵ֫נָּה ₄₉ adverb hither (perhaps from II. הֵן, used δεικτικῶς, with ה —lo hitherwards! or perhaps akin to هُنَا, هَنَّا, هِنَّا here) —

a. of place:

(α) hither Genesis 15:16 יָשׁוּבוּ הֵנָּךְ, Genesis 42:15; Genesis 45:5 that you have sold me הֵנָּה hither, Genesis 45:8; Genesis 45:13; Joshua 2:2; Joshua 3:9; Joshua 18:6; 2 Samuel 1:10; Isaiah 57:3 וְאַתֶּם קִרְבוּ הֵנָּה, Jeremiah 31:8; Jeremiah 51:5 +; 1 Samuel 20:21 מִמְּךָ וָהֵנָּךְ from thee and hitherwards, i.e. on this side of thee (opposed to מִמְּךָ וָהָֽלְאָה): repeated 2 Kings 4:35 אַחַת הֵנָּה וְאַחַת הֵנָּה once hither and once thither = once to and fro; הֵנָּה וָהֵנָּה hither and thither i.e. in different (or opposite) directions, † Joshua 8:20; 2 Kings 2:8, 14; 1 Kings 20:40 strangely וַיְהִי עַבְדְּךָ עשֵֹׁה הֵנָּח וָהֵנָּה literally and thy servant was a doer of hitherwards and thitherwards, i.e. was engaged in different directions (Ew^{§ 360, c} treats ה׳ here as the pronoun 3rd person plural feminine construed irregularly, compare עשֵֹׁה אֵלֶּה : but read probably with Th Klo פֹּנֶה was turning or looking (Exodus 2:12) for עשֵֹׁךְ); עַדהֵֿנָּה even hither, Numbers 14:19; 1 Samuel 7:12; 2 Samuel 20:16 קְרַב עַדהֵֿנָּה, 2 Kings 8:7, to this point (in a book) Jeremiah 48:47; Jeremiah 51:64 (note of compiler or scribe).

†b. of time, in עַד הֵנָּה hitherto Genesis 15:16 (with a negative, = not yet) Genesis 44:28; Judges 16:13; Psalm 71:17 & until now do I keep declaring thy wonders, 1 Chronicles 9:18; 1 Chronicles 12:9 until now (the point reached in the narrative). In late Hebrew, contracted to עֲדֶ֫נָה hitherto, still † Ecclesiastes 4:2, עֲדֶן † Ecclesiastes 4:3 אֲשֶׁר עֲדֶן לֹא הָיָה = who has not yet been (compare Mishna עֲדַיִן hitherto, still, עֲדַיִן לֹא = not yet).
