The God of the Bible

God is far beyond our full comprehension. He exists without beginning or end, and His presence is felt throughout all places. The Bible poses a profound question in Job 11:7: “Can you understand the mysteries of God? Can you explore the boundaries of the Almighty?” God resides in Heaven and governs the entire earth. The Scriptures remind us: “This is what the Lord says: ‘Heaven is my throne and the earth is my footstool…’” (Isaiah 66:1). Additionally, we read that “God reigns over the nations; God is seated on His holy throne” (Psalm 47:8). In this study, we will explore significant truths about God, highlighting the unchanging aspects of His character. Through this exploration, you will gain a deeper understanding of who God is and recognize His personal care for you.

A. WHAT IS GOD LIKE?

1. God Is The Creator Of Everything

“You alone are the Lord. You made the heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you” Nehemiah 9:6

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mothers womb”

Psalms 139:13

2. God Is All-Powerful

“… For who hath resisted His will? Hath not the potter power over the clay… ?”

Romans 9:19-21

“Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendour, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all” 1Chronicles 29:11

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” Ephesians 3:20

3. God Is All-Knowing

“Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account” Hebrews 4:13

“… God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything” 1John 3:20

4. God Is Holy

“There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God” 1Samuel 2:2

5. God Is A Spirit

“God is a Spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth” John 4:24

6. God Is A Person You Can Know

“Come near to God, and he will come near to you… ” James 4:8

“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth” Psalms 145:18

7. God Is A Loving Father

“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are… ! 1John 3:1

B. GOD IS TOO GREAT TO LIVE IN TEMPLES

“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else… ’For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring’” Acts17:24,25,28

C. Who we are to God

1. Created By God

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.

“When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be” Psalms 139:14-16

2. Owned By God

“Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you received from God? You are not your own: you were bought with a price.

Therefore honour God with your body”

1Corinthians 6:19,20

3. Called To Worship God

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being” Revelation 4:11

D. MAKE A DECISION.

 

The same challenge comes to each of us. Will you make the same commitment as Joshua this day?

Jesus instructed, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (Matthew 22:37).

The Bible recounts the story of Joshua, a remarkable leader of the Nation of Israel. After wandering in the wilderness for forty years without a homeland, Joshua, guided by God, led the Israelites to victory against the wicked nations inhabiting Canaan, securing the land for the nation of Israel. He urged the people to make a pivotal choice: “…choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living.

BUT AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSEHOLD, WE WILL SERVE THE LORD” (Joshua 24:15). This call to decision resonates with each of us. Will you make the same commitment as Joshua today?

Conclusion

Keep in mind the principle of expanding the Kingdom of God. It’s now your opportunity to instruct someone else about God and help them teach another individual. Simply share what you know.

 

Confession:

Today, I dedicate my worship to the one true God of the heavens and the earth, offering my will, life, and belongings to Him. From this moment on, I resolve to worship no other deities. My devotion is solely for Him, and I will share the truths about God with others. Amen
