φθείρω phtheírō, fthi'-ro; probably strengthened from φθίω phthíō (to pine or waste); properly, to shrivel or wither, i.e. to spoil (by any process) or (generally) to ruin (especially figuratively, by moral influences, to deprave):—corrupt (self), defile, destroy.
