Ἀντιπατρίς, -ιδος, ἡ, Antipatris, a city situated between Joppa and Cæsarea, in a very fertile region, not far from the coast; formerly called Χαβαρζαβᾶ [others, Καφαρσαβᾶ (or -σᾶβα)] (Josephus, Antiquities 13, 15, 1), and afterwards rebuilt by Herod the Great and named Antipatris in honor of his father Antipater (Josephus, b. j. 1, 21, 9): Acts 23:31.
