THE LORD WHO DELIVERS YOU
Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 15:15-21
And I will make you to this people a fortified bronze wall; And they will fight against you, But they shall not prevail against you; For I am with you to save you And deliver you,” says the Lord. “I will deliver you from the hand of the wicked, and I will redeem you from the grip of the terrible.” *Jeremiah 15:20-21*
This affirms the promise God made to Jeremiah at the beginning of his ministry. Jeremiah was a young man when the Lord called him to take a message to his people. The message God gave Jeremiah was an unpopular one.
He had to warn the people of impending danger and call them to repentance. Jeremiah’s ministry exposed him to danger, so God promised to deliver him from harm. These are the assurances God gave to Jeremiah and, by extension, to us today:
1. *I will make you a fortified bronze wall.* That means no one would be able to break Jeremiah down. As we serve the Lord, we can also rest assured that the Lord has fortified us and no one can break us.
2. *They will not prevail against you.* The Lord made Jeremiah aware of the fights that people would bring to him but assured him that his opponents would not prevail. We can also affirm that those who fight against us will not win against us.
3. *I will deliver you from the hand of the wicked.* Jeremiah’s world was full of wicked people who planned evil at night and sought to work out their evil agendas in the day. Just as the Lord promised to deliver Jeremiah from such people, He also promises to deliver us. Wickedness will not prevail over God’s plans and God’s people.
4. *I will redeem you from the grip of the terrible.* As a result of Jeremiah’s messages, he was arrested and mistreated, but the Lord freed him. The same God who freed Jeremiah will also free us.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, you are my deliverance. I trust in you for full protection and deliverance from all attacks. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
