THE EARTH BELONGS TO GOD
Scripture Reading: Psalm 24:1-10
The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein. For He has founded it upon the seas, And established it upon the waters. *Psalm 24:1-2*
Creation did not just come into being. Creation was created by a Creator – His name is Jehovah. By Himself, He made all things – visible and invisible. The Lord is the owner of the Earth. In addition, God is the owner of the people who dwell on the earth.
1. God created a good earth. In the book of Genesis, the Lord called what He had created, good. He created the earth to be a manifestation of His glory. He did not create an evil Earth. Though it was subjected to judgment because of Adam and Eve’s disobedience, the earth remains as good as God made it.
2. God loves people. Though the people of the earth have turned their backs on God, He still loves them. He delicately formed man and breathed His Spirit into Him. By that investment of God Himself, man possesses great value and is loved by God. God’s love for man necessitated His redemption plan.
3. God wants His people to enjoy the fullness of the earth. In Genesis, the Lord gave us dominion over all the earth and the things in it. His desire is for people to appreciate its beauty and enjoy the riches it offers. He expects that we will be good stewards of the earth as we dwell on it and work it to produce fruit and a harvest for us.
4. God will establish His purposes on earth. The story of our planet will end with God establishing His rule here. God has worked His plan in history from the first day of creation till now. All events will culminate in the fulfilment of His purposes for the earth.
When we submit to the Lord, He causes the earth to yield fruit for us. May you be fruitful in all you do as you acknowledge the earth as the Lord’s and submit to Him.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, you are the King of the Universe. We proclaim your dominion over our lives and over all the earth. In Jesus’ name, *Amen.*_
