SING TO THE LORD
Scripture Reading: Psalm 98:1-10
Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! For He has done marvellous things; His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory. Psalm 98:1
When God does something new, we must change our tune and sing a new song. We must dance to a new rhythm. We cannot continue singing the same old song of fear and failure after we have experienced the visitation of the Lord.
When we sing a new song, our words change. Our hearts rejoice in what the Lord is doing. Even when we cannot see an outward change in our situation, our hearts rejoice because Heaven has touched us.
1. We sing a new song because God’s mercies are new every morning. Each day is a new opportunity. It is a fresh page on which to write a new story. God’s favour never gets old. Regardless of how yesterday turned out, today is a new day. Change your confession and say something new.
2. We sing a new song when we experience something marvellous. God presents us numerous occasions to sing a new song. Have you witnessed a beautiful sunrise lately, or perhaps noticed a bird in graceful flight, a blossoming flower or a child taking new steps? The glorious works of God all around us can inspire a new song of praise and worship in our hearts unto Him.
3. We sing a new song when the Lord gives us a new victory. Many times, God’s answer to prayers manifests so subtly that we are surprised when we become aware of it. He comes to our aid and addresses the challenges we are battling. How obstacles move out of our way and make us victors. When you realise these, do not contain your appreciation and gratitude. Burst forth with a new song unto God for the victory won.
Rest in the Lord’s goodness and mercy to you. Delight in His visitation. Raise a praise anthem and exalt Him for the new things He does for you daily.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank you for all the marvellous things you have done for me. My soul sings a new song to you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
