"to go before and lead," is used in Rom 12:10, in the sense of taking the lead in showing deference one to another, "(in honor) preferring one another."

Notes: (1) In Joh 1:15, Joh 1:30, AV, ginomai, "to become," is translated "is preferred" (RV, "is become"); some mss. have it again in Joh 1:27. (2) For prokrima, 1Ti 5:21 (AV, "preferring one before another"), see PREJUDICE.
