THE SAME MOSES

Scripture Reading: Exodus 6

These are the same Aaron and Moses to whom the LORD said, “Bring out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their armies.” These are the ones who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt, to bring out the children of Israel from Egypt. These are the same Moses and Aaron. *Exodus 6:26–27*_

Exodus 6:14-25 gives a record of the families of Israel with attention to the line of Levi, the third son of Jacob. Moses and Aaron emerged from Levi’s family line. Having traced the genealogy, the passage notes ‘these are the same Aaron and Moses’. The phrase was used twice for emphasis.

The beginning of God’s extraordinary actions to bring Israel out of Egypt was near. That act was divinely directed through two particular men, for it was to them and no other that God assigned this task.

God knows where we are coming from. Moses and Aaron did not just appear on the scene. They came from a family line with all its strengths and weaknesses. Their ancestry was no perfect one, but God still chose these men from among them to fulfil His divine purposes.

Likewise, God knows the family we were born into. He knows our past as well. But He does not disqualify us from accomplishing His unique plan for our lives because of our lineage.

God knows where we are. Though we may be surrounded by so many people, God knows how to find us. The Lord found Aaron and Moses among the many children of Israel. They were called by God under different circumstances to do His work.

God knows who we are and where we are in the midst of a crowd. He will neither overlook us nor mistake us for others. His watchful eye can track and locate us.

God knows where we are going. Every call of God gives us an assignment. For Moses and Aaron, God’s assignment for them required that they bring the children of Israel in an orderly manner out of Egypt.

God crafts a unique assignment for every person’s existence. He knows what He wants to do with each one of us. His intent for our lives is a meaningful and fulfilling pursuit.

As God chose this same Moses and Aaron, so has He chosen you to use you.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, you know where I came from; where I am, and where I’m going. Lead me by your hand. In Jesus’ name, *Amen.*_
