ENLARGE YOUR VISION
Scripture Reading: Isaiah 54:1-10
“Enlarge the place of your tent, And let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings; Do not spare; Lengthen your cords, And strengthen your stakes. 3 For you shall expand to the right and to the left, And your descendants will inherit the nations, And make the desolate cities inhabited. *Isaiah 54:2-3*_
Isaiah, the prophet, proclaimed this oracle to Israel. In the prophecy, God’s people were presented as a woman with no children. It was a metaphor to show how desolate the nation had become. In the prophecy, God told them to look forward to a time when they would have to expand their dwelling places to accommodate the large number of children they would have.
The picture God painted for Israel was a positive one in sharp contrast to their current negative situation. He promised a time of restoration to those who were barren and desolate. Israel had to prepare for the abundance that God would bring their way. The Lord instructed them to increase their capacity.
Enlarge the place of your tent. The tent was a dwelling place. The size of the land on which the tent was built defined the limits of the tent’s size. A tent cannot grow beyond its boundaries. Similarly, we cannot grow beyond the boundaries we impose on ourselves. Your boundaries are the limits you set for your life.
Everyone needs some boundaries in life. However, some of the boundaries we draw for ourselves may not represent our true inheritance. God wants us to make space for Him to construct something new out of our lives.
According to Isaiah’s prophecy, the expansion God wants to bring into our lives does not start with the ‘tent’ we have built but rather the ‘place of our tent’. Don’t limit God to the place you came from – your family, town, nation or continent. Don’t limit God to your lack of resources. Take the limits off God.
Exercise your faith in bold ventures. Reach out for all that God has set before you. God’s blessings are placed within your reach and not in your lap. He shows you what He wants you to have but you have to stretch your faith to take it.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I enlarge my vision for life. Help me to stretch out and boldly step out into new territories. In Jesus’ name, *Amen.*
