UP'LAND, n. [up and land.] High land; ground elevated above the meadows and intervals which lie on the banks of rivers, near the sea, or between hills; land which is generally dry. It is opposed to meadow, march, swamp, interval, _c. Uplands are particularly valuable as affording pasture for sheep.
