is used in the Middle Voice to signify "to bid adieu to a person." It primarily means "to set apart, separate" (apo, "from," tasso, "to set, arrange"); then, "to take leave of, to bid farewell to," Mar 6:46 (RV); Luk 9:61; "to give parting instructions to," Act 18:18, Act 18:21, 2Co 2:13; "to forsake, renounce," Luk 14:33.
