δέος, ους, τό, (δείδω), [fr. Hom. down], fear, awe: μετὰ εὐλαβείας καὶ δέους, Hebrews 12:28 L T Tr WH.*

[Syn. δέος (apprehension), ϕόβος (fear): Ammonius s. v. δ. says δέος καὶ ϕόβος διαϕέρει· δέος μὲν γάρ ἐστι πολυϰρό-νιος κακοῦ ὑπόνοια. ϕόβος δὲ ἡ παραυτίκα πτόησις.
