Xenophon, r. eq. 2, 2, and among subsequent writings by
Polybius,
Philo,
Josephus,
Appian,
Plutarch,
Herodian, others; cf. Bleek, Brief a. d.
Hebrews 2:1, p. 554;
a. a sign suggestive of anything, delineation of a thing, representation, figure, copy: joined with
σκιά Hebrews 8:5; with a genitive of the thing represented,
Hebrews 9:23.
