Meaning

Banded <1,,4160 4963,poieo sustrophen> Act 23:12, of the Jews who "banded together" with the intention of killing Paul, consists of the verb poieo, "to make," and the noun sustrophe, primarily "a twisting up together, a binding together;" then, "a secret combination, a conspiracy." Accordingly it might be translated "made a conspiracy." The noun is used elsewhere in Act 19:40. See CONCOURSE.
