Arkite the, from Arka, one of the families of the Canaanites, (Genesis 10:17; 1Chronicles 1:16) and from the context evidently located in the north of Phoenicia. The site which now bears the name of ’Arka lies on the coast, 2to 2 1 /2 hours from the shore, about 12 miles north of Tripoli and 5 south of the Nahr el-Kebir.
