Song of Solomon 1

Christian Standard Bible (CSB)

Back to Bible
The Song of Songs, which is Solomon’s. ⓘ
Oh, that he would kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your caresses [1] are more delightful than wine. ⓙ
The fragrance of your perfume is intoxicating; ⓚ your name is perfume poured out. ⓛ No wonder young women [2] adore you.
Take me with you ⓜ  — let’s hurry. Oh, that the king would bring [3] me to his chambers. We will rejoice and be glad in you; we will celebrate your caresses more than wine. It is only right that they adore you.
Daughters of Jerusalem, ⓝ I am dark like the tents of Kedar, ⓐ yet lovely ⓑ like the curtains of Solomon.
Do not stare at me because I am dark, for the sun has gazed on me. My mother’s sons were angry with me; ⓒ they made me take care of the vineyards. ⓓ I have not taken care of my own vineyard.
Tell me, you whom I love: ⓔ Where do you pasture your sheep? ⓕ Where do you let them rest at noon? ⓖ Why should I be like one who veils herself [4] beside the flocks of your companions? ⓗ
[5] If you do not know, most beautiful of women, ⓘ follow [6] the tracks of the flock, and pasture your young goats near the shepherds’ tents.
I compare you, my darling, ⓙ to a [7] mare among Pharaoh’s chariots. ⓚ
Your cheeks are beautiful with jewelry, ⓛ your neck with its necklace.
We will make gold jewelry for you, accented with silver.
While the king is on his couch, [8] my perfume [9] releases its fragrance. ⓜ
The one I love is a sachet of myrrh to me, ⓝ spending the night between my breasts.
The one I love is a cluster of henna blossoms to me, ⓐ in the vineyards of En-gedi. ⓑ
How beautiful you are, my darling. How very beautiful! Your eyes are doves. ⓒ
How handsome you are, my love. ⓓ How delightful! Our bed is verdant;
the beams of our house are cedars, and our rafters are cypresses. [10]
